I was slowly building towards a certain conclusion as I went down the list and then 31 really settled me into that conclusion.  This person is somewhat delusional or out of touch with reality.  What they are feeling will wear off, then you will be left to deal with how they feel about you when they actually have some perception of who you are.

To work towards a good outcome in this situation, you both need to develop a policy and habit of being very honest with one another.  If you can develop the kind of relationship where there is nothing that can't be said, and where neither of you are ever afraid of upsetting the other by saying the wrong thing, then it may work out.  If you can't develop this kind of communication, then your relationship will fester like an infection in which the bacteria is formed of things held against one another.
